Happy Moms Day!.. Do any of these 4 initiatives whilst you Wish a Motherly Figure.

On this wonderful day, we as the City’s Favorite Developer honors mothers of family, motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in the society. Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make an extra-special effort to recognize and appreciate mothers’ roles in our lives. The past year’s been a challenge and many of us are rethinking how to give extra recognition to moms. Some of us are apart from our moms when we’d normally be together. How do we celebrate it this year? Try any of these 4 ways.

  1. Cook for Mom or set up a virtual brunch date.
  • If your mother is living with you, breakfast in bed is always a classic and appreciated. Something simple is fine for this, such as toast or a croissant with jam or fruit and a cup of coffee or tea. Or, if she’s not fond of eating in bed, how about preparing a sit-down brunch?

2. Give your mom a long phone call or put on a virtual talent show!

Talk to her (or videochat) and make her laugh. Perhaps throw in some good mom Jokes. Put on a talent show, It can be simple. Sing a song, show off some gymnastics, play an instrument.

3. Get creative: Make Mom a video, a music playlist, or a piece of art!

  • Record a video from all of the children. They can each say “Happy Mother’s Day” and why they appreciate her. You can always use iMovie to splice videos together on your phone. How about a special work of art for Mom?  For example, paint the outside of a terra-cotta flower pot and fill it with garden seeds and a card. Or, make a beautiful photo frame with your family photo inside

4. Make your own card.

  • Don’t forget to send a card in advance! In our home, it’s a tradition to make a homemade card every year. Moms love homemade! Wondering what to write in the card? How about sharing a funny story or happy memory of you and your mom? It will make her smile!

GOING PINK-ALL-OUT TOWARDS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

In Standing with solidarity together with the entire human populace towards breast cancer awareness this Month, our ladies at JL Properties came to work bedazzled in Ribbbon Pink Shirts. The pink color and ribbon is a universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness and bringing together women in solidarity.

“Patients are experiencing better outcomes as a result of early campaign and diagnosis, state-of-the-art treatment options, and less extensive surgery,” says Dr. Catherine Tuite. As the City’s Favorite Developer, embarking on such heigthened campaing is a priority that of the disease has unquestionably led to a greater number of women being screened for breast cancer, as early detection leads to early prevention.

These awareness provide an opportunity to help educate the public on the health impact of breast cancer, the importance of taking personal responsibility for health, and the new research studies that ultimately affect clinical practice.

Breast self-exam, or regularly examining your breasts on your own, can be an important way to find a breast cancer early, when it’s more likely to be treated successfully. Just in case a fellow female hasn’t done hers, kindly encourage her to do so. Click here for some self examination tips.

Let’s Get Started!..History of Breast Cancer.

Breast cancer in ancient Egypt

The first mention of cancer of any kind was a case of breast cancer documented in Egypt around 1600 BC. The Edwin Smith Papyrus, an ancient text found in 1860 in an Egyptian tomb, described eight cases of tumors or ulcers of the breast. The first doctors attempting to treat breast cancer wrote of the mysterious disease: “There is no treatment!”

“The wandering womb”

Cases of breast cancer in ancient times were often attributed to what Hippocrates called “the wandering womb.” This particular explanation hinged on the belief that a woman’s uterus could move throughout the body leaving health problems of every kind in its wake.

The first successful Treatment

French surgeon Jean Louis Petit and later Scottish surgeon Benjamin Bell were the first to surgically remove lymph nodes, breast tissue, and chest muscle as a treatment for the disease. This method was the first successful treatment of breast cancer.

Better surgery, better outcomes

By the 1970s, researchers began to develop the lumpectomy, a less invasive surgical option that removes only the cancerous tumor and any surrounding tissue affected by the tumor. By 1985, research found that a lumpectomy followed by radiation treatment gave women a chance of survival equal to the considerably more invasive mastectomy.

Treatments that failed

In the 1980s and 1990s, thousands of women who had undergone standard breast cancer treatment also received high-dose bone marrow transplants, with the hope that this would improve their long-term survival rates. Unfortunately, the treatment proved disastrous after 15 to 20 percent of the women died due to the treatment.

What you can do now?

As research continues to improve, there are steps that every person can take to prevent breast cancer or any kind of cancer: eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, keep your weight down, and avoid alcohol whenever possible.

The pink ribbon has become the universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness and bringing together women in solidarity. From a simple piece of ribbon affixed with a pin, we are able to show our support for loved ones battling breast cancer and our hope for a brighter future.   As the City’s Favorite Developer, JL Properties is pledging our support to breast Cancer awareness.

The ribbon represents fear of breast cancer, hope for the future, and charitable goodness of people and businesses who publicly support the breast cancer movement.

In this month of October, we would be sharing with you interesting topics on what breast cancer is about, the history, early detection, diagnosis, stages and types, treatments, myths, Breast Cancer FAQs and more.
