About Lindsay

Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay is the Executive Chairman of JL Holdings, the parent company of JL Properties, where he oversees the roles of all managers responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. A highly experienced business leader, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay has over 12 years of work experience in real estate and construction, coupled with a rich history of leadership in various roles across construction, advertising, security, and consultancy. His remarkable journey began at High Speed Production Wandsworth in London, where he worked as a Line Manager before progressing to become a Works Supervisor at IBM (UK) Limited and ultimately General Manager of J.O.L Limited, a construction firm. It was during his time at J.O.L that he gained invaluable insight into the real estate industry. In 1997, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay transitioned into real estate development as the Managing Director of Netlynk Kea Systems, which has since evolved into JL Properties. Under his leadership, JL Properties has achieved numerous milestones, including transforming the once-derelict Achimota dumpsite into one of Ghana’s cleanest and most attractive residential estates. An alumnus of some of the most prestigious educational institutions, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a Master of Science in Construction Management from the University of Salford (2000), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Construction Management from the University of Hertfordshire (2004). He also completed a Certification Program in Real Estate Finance at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2022. Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s educational journey also includes time at Madonna School (Koforidua), St. Peter’s Secondary School (Nkwatia), and St. Augustine’s College (Cape Coast), institutions he fondly credits for shaping his appreciation for the environment and landscape aesthetics—qualities now reflected in his real estate projects. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay has a fascinating personal history, tracing his ancestry to an illustrious family tree of trailblazers. His lineage includes Birempong Cudjo, who played a pivotal role in settling Sew Do, and Philip Quarcoe, one of the first Fante boys educated in England, the first ordained Anglican minister from the Gold Coast, and a pioneer in formal education in the region. Dr. Orleans-Lindsay’s passion for entrepreneurship and philanthropy is evident in his many roles and initiatives. He serves as the President of the Ghana Association of Young Entrepreneurs, a contributor to the United Nations’ Best Practice for African Managing Directors, and a member of esteemed organizations such as the Ghana-France Chamber of Commerce, the Ghana-UK Chamber of Commerce, and the Commonwealth Business Council. Additionally, he was personally invited by former Mozambican president Joaquin Alberto Chissano to Mozambique’s Investment Conference. As a CAF Coaching Certificate ‘A’ holder, he has also served as a board member of Accra Hearts of Oak. A staunch advocate for financial independence through entrepreneurship, Dr. Orleans-Lindsay believes that wealth comes with the responsibility to give back to society. He has actively supported philanthropic ventures focused on football, women, and children. Looking toward the future, he envisions mentoring 100,000 young entrepreneurs and cementing his legacy in real estate development while sharing his wealth equally with charity.
